Does the chalk pastles come off or do they stay on after baking?

You could use makeup. When I first started polymer clay I used a cheap palette of makeup I got at the dollar store for a dollar or two. The only inconvenience is that makeup has that glittery kinda glare to it.

Any colored chalk (even sidewalk chalk? xD ) would work, I think. But chalk pastels are really inexpensive and come in sets with lots of colors, so it's worth buying some. :D
