Cars Cake Topper Progressby *GrandmaThunderpants

This is a cake topper I was commissioned to make for a friend's nephew! It was for his 4th birthday party.

He's the kid sitting on top of the car holding the flag, if you're curious.

Everything is made from polymer clay except for the flag which is cut from felt. :3 The car measures 4" long. It also came with a sign modeled after the Cars logo. I figured I'd take progress pictures while sculpting it so you can see my method of working! He started as a blob of scrap clay, because scrap clay is still good stuff!

Wouldn't it have been better to build a base? Unless you were looking for a reason to get rid of that much clay, haha. It's just insanity because it's easily 50 dollars worth of clay even if it's scrap or not.

That's definitely not $50 worth of clay. $20 at the very most. And the core of it was aluminum foil.

Hmm. I was just judging by the size of your hand next to it versus the size of the little packages they sell in the craft stores. Regardless, money. But it seems you even had that covered

The ball of red next to it was just one 2 oz package of clay that was conditioned, if that helps you get an idea of the amount of scrap clay it was.

So probably not as much as you'd think!
