Description

Wheeee. :la:

This is my first real brushable custom pony!

She started as a G1 bait of the pony Sunlight. You can see the before image here:

What I did with her was a lot of labors of love. She was entirely scrubbed down, then her symbols and eyes were removed with acetone-based nail polish remover. I would not suggest this method, even though many customizers suggested it. It just smears everything all over and you have to scrub hardcore to remove it again. I will be trying "goof off" for all future customs. O:

Once she was clean I cut all over her hair and carefully removed her head. It did have to be cut with a razor blade, bur she had no damages from it. Then she was washed again. Next I dyed her in Rit powder dye in Navy Blue. After a good dye bath I realized she had some glue from the factory around her neck so it left a weird spot of her original color. To hide it, I made her a golden rope necklace out of clay.

Putting the hair in, I used Dollyhair's Virgin Snow. And I had a lot of trouble initially figuring the plugs out, and I have to say it's super sloppy. On top of that, I made her tail too thick and ran out of hair for the mane, so she only has about 55-60 plugs filled instead of 100. So her mane is pretty thin. I had intended to have some sort of pin-up hair style to her mane but after it was washed it just was too thin to do much with. So I braided it while it was wet and let it dry and did a faux crimp look.

Next I painted on her details, which was fun as always. :la: The last thing I did was make a little sailor's cap for her head. Since the cap is meant to be small and cute, I did glue it to her head so that it would stay on. Since she will be in my private collection, I didn't mind that it couldn't be removed. :3

All in all, for my VERY FIRST CUSTOM PONY EVAAAH I think she turned out pretty impressive! I learned so much from her creation that I can apply to other ponies in the future, so I will always keep her as a reminder~ so it goes without saying that she's not for sale. However, I wouldn't mind replicating her design on another pony (and I may do so in the future, with some edits) so if you wanted a nautical themed pony I would be happy to make you one. :D
